Associate Director/Senior Associate Director (Business Development & Industry Liaison)

The newly established Institute for Functional Materials (I-FIM) is seeking to fill the position of Business Development Director to lead the business development and enterprise fundraising for industry-related projects for the Business Office at I-FIM. The duties and responsibilities include:

• Identify and connect possible inventors with I-FIM start-ups
• Identify trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications and announcements in the area of artificial intelligence and machine learning applied to materials science
• Understand market trends and innovations relating to the industry applications, identify potential industry partners, and build business development plans and strategies for business collaborations by actively contacting potential partners and discovering and exploring opportunities
• Screen potential business cooperation by anaylsing market strategies, requirements, potential, evaluating options and resolve internal priorities
• Network and build good relationship with industry partners and possible investors. Communicate scientific and technological developments at I-FIM to potential collaborators and investors.
• Compile, monitor and track project timelines, industry related KPIs, contact lists and databases
• Work closely with technical personnel at the Business Office at I-FIM
• Prepare accurate progress reports

Qualifications

• Minimum BSc degree in Materials Science and Engineering and related fields
• Masters in Business Administration
• Industrial experience (manager) in a role of product development and management
• Industrial experience in innovation
• Corporate experience in company spin-offs and start-ups
