Proven research and teaching experiences with quantitative methods are required as you are expected to contribute to the department’s recent efforts to strengthen research and education using quantitative methods.
In teaching, you are expected to provide BA- and MA-level courses, as well as support PhD supervision. Depending on teaching needs, you may also be asked to contribute to general introductory courses in areas such as IR Theory, Policy and Governance, History of International Relations, International Politics, and/or qualitative and quantitative social science research methodologies; as well as specialized courses for the MA tracks “International Political Economy” (https://www.rug.nl/masters/international-political-economy/). Participation in managerial committees related to the organization of the degree programs will be expected.
In research you are expected to contribute to any field of research in IPE. The IPE chair group in Groningen has traditionally focused on institutional changes due to economic globalization. Candidates who could further reinforce this research program, as well as those who could expand our collective research area to new fields of research are welcome to apply. Candidates with a specialization in the IPE of development, IPE of environment, as well as those with a focus on the Global South are particularly encouraged to apply.
You will develop your own research projects (both individually and in small teams) and will contribute to wider research initiatives within the University and beyond. We expect that you develop a research funding plan to attract external funding in the short/medium term.
