| Job Summary | The Department of Engineering Technology at the University of Kentucky (http://www.engr.uky.edu/et/ ) seeks candidates for a tenure-eligible, 9-month appointment faculty position at the assistant professor level in lean systems engineering technology. Candidates at the associate professor level or higher will also be considered. This faculty search is focused on identifying qualified candidates with expertise in lean manufacturing, just-in-time processes, abnormality management, systems of quality assurance & built-in quality, production instruction, small lot production & changeover methods, value steam mapping, logistics, and supply chain management. Additional consideration will also be given to candidates with expertise that enhances existing department strengths. The candidate’s teaching and research focus should have strong lean manufacturing applications. The candidate must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline. The Department of Engineering Technology (ET) in the college of engineering at the University of Kentucky offers two four-year undergraduate degrees: Lean Systems Engineering Technology and Computer Engineering Technology, in a 2 + 2 partnership with the Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC). As such, the ET department only offers junior and senior-level coursework. A successful candidate would shape and grow the new Lean Systems Engineering Technology program, including developing new undergraduate teaching laboratories. The ideal candidate should also have a passion for teaching undergraduates, involving them in significant research projects, and providing service to the Department, professional organizations, and the community. The anticipated distribution of effort (DOE) would be 70% Instruction, 15-20% research/creative activities, and 10-15% service with annual review and modifications.
