The Clemson University College of Education seeks a highly-qualified candidate to fill a full-time position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Educational and Organizational Leadership Development (EOLD). This 9-month appointment will begin in fall 2023 and has a special focus on leadership for high-needs rural schools. The position involves conducting research, teaching courses, and advising graduate students in the Doctor of Education (EdD) in Education Systems Improvement Science Program and other P-12 educational leadership programs, and providing service to the university and scholarly and practitioner communities. The successful candidate will have a strong record of research experience and scholarly impact, effectiveness in teaching, and commitment to service in higher education and P-12 settings.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the academic mission of the College of Education and EOLD, primarily through grant-funded research, teaching, and service activities.
• Maintain scholarly activities (research, publications, grant applications, etc.) consistent with the rank of an Assistant/Associate Professor at an R1 institution.
• Teach online and hybrid graduate courses in educational leadership, research methods, and educational reform with an emphasis on improvement science and issues related to race, place (rurality), and poverty.
• Mentor and advise doctoral students in completing a dissertation in practice.
• Provide service to the Department, College, and University, as well as to scholarly and practitioner communities.
• Participate in field-based research and service with higher education and P-12 partners.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Earned doctorate in educational leadership or a closely related field
• Strong scholarly record that would merit the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor
• Experience teaching graduate courses in P-12 leadership preparation programs in online and hybrid modalities
• Experience mentoring and advising doctoral students
• Experience working with minoritized populations and communitities
• Willingness to travel for teaching and service activities as well as partner engagement
• Potential for or a record of successful grant-funded research
• Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in P-20 settings

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in the use of continuous improvement methodologies
• Experience with curriculum alignment and program assessment
• Leadership experience in P-20 settings (e.g, building, district, and partnerships)
• Experience engaging in research with at the intersection of place and politics
