ROLE of the POSITION 

To address the growth and increased capacity of the Planning, Construction, and Real Estate department the need has emerged for  a professional staff member to collaborate with the Associate Vice President, Executive Directors, Directors, and Associate Director  of the departments to create, refine, and deliver our strategic direction. This position will directly engage in the leadership and delivery  of the day to day operations of the department and support driving the Planning and Construction service-oriented mission of  providing university clients with high-quality professional services through the management and delivery of projects and the  processes required for high-quality department administrative services to deliver these professional services. 

This position is responsible for providing high-level organizational and professional support to the senior staff of the Planning and  Construction departments and leading many of the administrative and staff-driven efficiency and effectiveness focused efforts of the  office. Management of special non-routine projects, especially those requiring confidentiality and coordination with various internal  and external constituencies is a necessity. These tasks are varied and require significant judgment and communication skills. The  individual in this position will need to respond to frequent, unanticipated requests and situations in support of the department, and the  Associate Vice President of Planning, Construction, and Real Estate. 

This position requires a dynamic individual who is professional and able to handle challenging situations. The applicant must  collaborate with Planning and Construction leadership and staff, along with other internal departments and external entities for a  variety of development and improvement activities to occur according to and in support of department policy, compliance, continuous  improvement and culture standards. 

The applicant will develop and implement systems for tracking, monitoring, and reporting on various compliance related and service  standards within the department. This position will conceptualize, plan, implement, and manage all of the department’s annual events  including those events that bring outside partners to campus. This position is often the first point of contact for the Planning,  Construction, and Real Estate department and must reflect the values and standards of the departments, division, and the university.  They must maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding the sensitive issues of the office. 

This position serves as the agent for ensuring the department’s progress toward achievement of its goals and objectives in support of  the university’s Top Tier 2.0 vision and mission. The applicant will serve as the Planning, Construction, and Real Estate’s  departments champion for adherence to the Business Affairs Division’s Mission and Values, ensure compliance with the Business  Affairs Division’s Culture & Service Standards generally and related to broader university and division strategic plan and goals. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

This position requires a Bachelor’s from a regionally accredited college or university and 3-5 years relevant high level executive  administrative office or executive support experience. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

Familiar with construction management processes and procedures. Ability to exercise good judgment in dealing with multiple agencies  both internal and external to the university. Working knowledge of university rules, regulations, and policies.
