Clinical Skills and Simulation Center

UCF College of Medicine (COM) Clinical Skills and Simulation Center’s mission is to provide a safe learning environment for the undergraduate medical curriculum to teach and assess students in patient-centered care and develop a line of extramural work for the training of healthcare professionals outside UCF. The center achieves this by offering well-trained Standardized Patients and staff, and state-of-the-art simulation equipment.

The Opportunity

The purpose of this position is to coordinate the Clinical Skills and Simulation Center (CSSC) student activities and ultrasound (US) curriculum.

Responsibilities:

Coordinates the Ultrasound (US) curriculum by: 

  • Maintaining inventory of ultrasound supplies and equipment, including laundry.

  • Maintaining ultrasound service agreements and monitoring the status of equipment warranties as indicated.

  • Preparing and maintaining logs and reports of sessions and ultrasound usage.

  • Checking students in and assisting faculty during ultrasound events.

Oversees the storage, use and maintenance of simulation lab equipment, including ultrasound

  • Prepares and breaks down the lab before and after events.

  • Manages the inventory and reports of simulation lab equipment.

  • Maintains stock of all disposable equipment and supplies.

  • Operates and maintains equipment and learning resources for the CSSC, including high fidelity simulators.

  • Reports equipment issues or damage to the appropriate supervisor.

  • Supports the training of selected standardized patients as simulator-operators.

Simulation lab liaison for Finance and Procurement team

  • Works with vendors to obtain quotes for simulation lab equipment.

  • Coordinates all Simulation lab finance and procurement needs.

  • Initiates purchase requisitions, maintains financial records, and reconciles budgets for CSSC.

Other duties:

  • Works with the CSSC Medical Director, Director, and Events Management Team to coordinate and schedule meetings and events. Manages department’s email account by re-routing emails to the necessary parties, responding to SP candidates and student inquiries.

  • Act as a back-up for the Clinical Skills Coordinator, supporting the scheduling of self-directed practice, remediation practice sessions and the check-in of students.

  • Supports CSSC staff with recruitment and orientation of standardized patients.

  • Works with the CSSC Medical Director, Director, and CSSC IT support group to develop and maintain a web-based presence for the CSSC.

  • Schedules and delivers tours to the CSSC.

  • Successfully completes UCF annually required trainings in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and 0+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Highly organized.

  • Ability to function well in a high intensity, constantly changing work environment.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral.

  • Ability to meet deadlines.
