Position Summary
The Michigan State University Athletics Department seeks an Accountant I to join their Business Office Team. This position will assist with the support of the financial operations for both Sports and Athletics Department accounts and reports to the Accountant II. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree program in Accounting or related field. One to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in financial report preparation, spreadsheet, and office procedures, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Knowledge regarding types of internal controls.
Desired Qualifications
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and Outlook. Experience with EBS, specifically (but not limited to): initiating edocs, vendor setup and maintenance, payroll entry and Business Intelligence (including familiarity with basic reports). Experience with Concur Travel system and knowledge of MSU Travel Policies. Extensive experience with account review and operating statement reconciliation. Knowledge of University policies and procedures and ability to work with others to ensure those policies and procedures are followed. Familiarity with various types of internal controls. Ability to problem solve, be a self-starter and work independently. Positive attitude and willingness to be part of a team and provide assistance, as needed, to other team members with a wide variety of tasks.
