The Yvonne Smith scholarship fund was set up in 1999 to encourage and promote women as future leaders of New Zealand business and society.

The scholarship can also be held in conjunction with other awards.

Value

The value of the scholarship may be as high as $65,000, which compares with the Fulbright and Rhodes scholarships.

Special Selection Criteria

The scholarship is awarded to the candidate who best exemplifies potential leadership in their field as well as demonstrating the potential to make a significant contribution to New Zealand.

It is open to women of all ages giving preference to the subject areas of political studies, economics, business and law.
