Young Alumni Fellow for Queer Student Resources

One-year fixed term

Queer Student Resources (QSR ), part of Stanford’s Centers for Equity, Community and Leadership, is proud to announce the launch of our Young Alumni Fellowship program in Academic Year 2023.  These fellowships offer recent Stanford graduates with a proven commitment to community-building and institutional change a rare opportunity to hone skills, chart personal/professional trajectories and lay groundwork for future opportunities through an immersive campus community center work experience.

Queer Student Resources seeks a recent Stanford graduate to work closely with professional staff in the areas of outreach, program development and support, engaged scholarship and institutional research, improving access to university resources and services and community engagement.  This position is open to Stanford alumni who have completed their Bachelor of Arts degree within the last three years.

In this role, you will:

—Support QSR professional staff in program design, implementation and assessment; outreach, promotion and storytelling; student consultation, advising and referrals; young alumni community building.

—Maintain a physical presence in the Firetruck House and cultivate campus spaces for queer community-building.

—Develop tools to help historically marginalized students navigate campus systems and access available resources.

—Build relationships between QSR and campus community centers, student groups and academic programs as well as community organizations and campaigns.

—Design, develop and execute, with the support of QSR directors, an individual project related to scholarly, professional or personal development goals.

This position reports to the Associate Director of QSR.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • One to two years of full-time equivalent relevant experience
  • Academic or work experience related to the fields of social work, community organizing, arts & media organization, student affairs, counseling psychology, race & ethnicity studies, feminist/queer studies, gender studies is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Basic analysis and problem solving skills
  • Customer service skills
  • Relevant computer systems/technology experience
  • Ability to learn and understand compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations

The selected candidate will be assigned duties and appointed to the job classification that matches their years of relevant experience.

Working Conditions:

  • The university requires all staff to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and provide proof of vaccination prior to their start date, unless granted a medical or religious accommodation.
  • This is a hybrid position which requires on campus work at least two
  • days per week.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
