Writing Center Tutor/Student Employee (Fall)

Student tutors in the newly opened Gaylord College Writing Center will assist students enrolled in Gaylord College writing classes with their written work through tutoring sessions. Our mission is to help students become better and more confident media writers. In addition to working with students, Writing Center tutors are also expected to regularly attend staff meetings and may be asked to create or design tutoring materials, visit classes to talk about Writing Center services, and help make decisions about the operations of the center. Along with solid writing and grammar skills, a good writing tutor is someone who is empathetic, personable, flexible, open-minded and curious. 

Required Education: Must be currently enrolled in the current Fall Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

• Must attach Fall 2022 class schedule.

Skills:

• Demonstration of solid media writing skills
• Demonstration of strong English grammar and AP style skills

Certifications:

• Completion of JMC 2033 Media Writing & Storytelling or equivalent class at another institution

Department Preferences:

• Gaylord College Major
