WOT Lecturer – Indigenous Studies

The Department of Indigenous Studies at the University of Saskatchewan is actively seeking a scholar for a without term appointment at the rank of Lecturer. Applicants are expected to have completed or nearly completed a PhD and have experience teaching Indigenous Studies at the undergraduate level.

We are seeking a scholar whose research focus aligns with one or more of our four signature areas (Governance; Development; Gender and History; Language and Culture). Priority will be given to candidates who work with Indigenous knowledge, and engage in innovative learning, teaching, research, and creative practices. The successful candidate will be expected to teach the core curriculum at the undergraduate level, specifically our introductory class INDG 107.

Indigenous Studies is an interdisciplinary academic department that offers BA, BA Honours, MA, and PhD programs. We are situated within the College of Arts and Science and currently have 10 faculty members, including two research chairs, with additional associate and adjunct members from other departments and institutions. Indigenous Studies is dedicated to the development of applied and theoretical investigations of Indigenous concerns and strategic community-based research. It is also dedicated to servicing the Indigenous Studies content needs of other academic programs in the university on and off-campus. The College of Arts & Science offers a dynamic combination of programs in the humanities, fine arts, social sciences and natural sciences. There are more than 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the College, and 296 faculty members, including ten Canada Research Chairs. The College emphasizes student and faculty research, interdisciplinary programs, community outreach and international opportunities.

There are seven Indigenous nations whose territories make up the province of Saskatchewan: Cree, Anishnaabeg, Lakota, Dakota, Nakoda, Dene and Métis. Saskatchewan is also home to many other Indigenous peoples from across Canada and beyond. Collectively, Aboriginal people make up 15.6% of the provincial population and almost 10% of the population of the city of Saskatoon.

Salary Band: Lecturer$83,150 – $123,458
