Gross monthly salary and pay grade in terms of collective agreement for university staff (payable 14
times per year): B1, € 3.578,80 (without Doctorate), B1 lit. b, € 4.752,30 (with Doctorate)Responsibilities
Contribution in a high-tech research laboratory of the BOKU Core Facility Biomolecular &
Cellular Analysis (CF BmCA) with a focus on the interpretation of biochemical/biophysical data
Scientific support of Core Facility users in the following fields:
o Generation and interpretation of biochemical/biophysical data with strong focus on
interpretation and evaluation of complex biological systems (development and
application of non-standard evaluation methods). Data are derived from various
interaction techniques such as SPR or BLI or from calorimetric data such as DSC or
ITC
o Experience with the generation and interpretation of light scattering data such as DLS,
SLS, RADLS
o Generation and interpretation of diffraction data (e.g. X-ray/neutron crystallography,
SAXS/SANS, Cryo-EM) with strong focus on model building
Establishment of a future collaboration with a suitable lab/core facility for the performance of
Cryo-EM experiments
Administrative tasks within the Core Facility
Support of users and/or customers with writing grant proposals and with writing scientific
publications
Support of the head of CF BmCA and of the BOKU Core Facilities management with writing
infrastructure proposals
Involvement in teaching (lectures and practical courses)Required skills and qualifications
Doctoral degree/PhD in Biophysical Studies or related
Diploma degree in Biophysics or other equivalent university degree
Very good command of English (and German), fluent in written and spoken languageDesirable skills and qualifications
Sound previous professional experience in the field of biophysics
Experience with independent experimental design, generation and evaluation/interpretation of
biophysical/biochemical data
Programming skil s (adaption/modification of existing work flows/software and implementation
of new ones)
Very good communication skil s with users and/or customers
Experience with supervision of students and/or users
Experience with academic teaching
