Wildlife Services Technicians will be full time, receive paid training, and full benefits as they team up with other Wildlife Services Technicians and Staff Biologists to learn the ropes. Job responsibilities include installation/servicing rainwater collection systems, wildlife feeders, and songbird nesting boxes, in addition to, surveying and treating Imported Red Fire Ants, conducting bird surveys, remote camera deer surveys, and data collection/field documentation. Once trained Wildlife Services Technicians will often work solo but also team up with other Plateau staff. Teams of two or more are deployed for large wildlife management product installations or projects for our landowner clients throughout the Brazos River Valley and beyond.
Wildlife Services Technicians must be dependable, arrive to work on time, and have a reliable means of transportation. In order to operate company vehicles employees must have a clean driving record and current driver’s license. A background and driving record check will be performed for applicants under consideration. The Pines & Prairies service region includes several counties surrounding our home base of Montgomery County so expect extended drive times and varied end times based on job completion.
Wildlife Services staff start the workday at 7:00AM, Monday through Friday, and should anticipate overtime. Additionally, the option to transition to a four day-10 hour per day work week is possible after training to profeciency. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-Ornithology coursework and/or proficiency in birding
-Off road driving experience with four-wheel drive vehicles
-Ability to tow and back a utility trailer utilizing mirrors
-Experience with power tools and chainsaws
-Game camera photo analysis for deer survey reporting
-Backcountry orienteering -First Aid/CPR/Wilderness First Aid Training Certification
