- Description
- Duties will primarily include but are not limited to the planning and implementation of wildlife and fisheries management practices on a large, family owned private ranch in the Post Oak Savannah ecoregion of East Texas. The applicant may be required to supervise other employees and will be responsible for the care of equipment, farm machinery, boats, and ranch vehicles. The applicant would be responsible for the annual planting of wildlife forage plots, habitat improvement projects, conducting a wildlife census, maintenance of hunting blinds, guiding hunters and fisherman, processing harvested game, maintaining harvest records and data, and assisting other wildlife and fisheries staff in daily ranch work activities. The applicant will work closely with other personnel including wildlife and fisheries staff, cattlemen, office staff, TPWD staff, and the family members along with their guests as needed. The applicant should have a pleasant personality and ability to get along with all matter of people with different personality traits. The applicant must be willing to work late and early hours, and on weekends and holidays as needed. Benefits will be available after a 90-day probationary period from start date.
- Qualifications
- An undergraduate degree relating to wildlife and fisheries, or previous job experience in a related field. Must have experience in hunting, fishing, and general outdoor interests. Must have general experience and knowledge in the safe operation of farm tractors and machinery, boats, motors, chainsaws, firearms, and other equipment. Must be capable of heavy physical work at times. General computer knowledge and skills required. Must have good work habits, including being productive, reliable, able to follow instructions, capable of being a self-starter, and punctual. Must be able to complete an investigative background check and have no criminal record. Interested and qualified applicants should submit a resume and a minimum of three references to:
