Proposed Annual Salary Range Part-time (20 hrs/week) salary of $27,500 to $32,500 (based on a full-time salary of $55,000 – $65,000) plus benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Description of Work Unit Colorado State University is home to the College of Agricultural Sciences and Colorado Agricultural Experiment Station. The college is home to five academic departments – Agricultural Biology, Agricultural and Natural Resource Economics, Animal Sciences, Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, and Soil and Crop Sciences. At 10 research centers in communities throughout the state of Colorado, AES investigates potential improvements to food production and agribusiness. The CAS Dean’s Office serves the college and AES through executive level leadership guided by a strategic plan and oversight of the college’s initiatives, including research, academic programs, student success and student recruitment. Position Summary A vital member of the College of Agricultural Sciences communications team, the Website Specialist provides project management and content development leadership for the College of Agricultural Sciences’ website redevelopment project. This is a part time (20 hours per a 40 hour week) position. This position plays a critical role in the college’s web communications, with particular focus on planning, management, and execution of priority needs for the college’s website redesign. This position develops website content utilizing best practices related to usability, consistency, findability, currency, and accessibility. The position also develops website policies and offers support and training for website users and admins. The position requires strong communication and client management skills, and an understanding of the web development process and how to create and optimize web content. The position reports to the Director of Communications.
Required Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or a related field
  • At least five (5) years of professional experience in marketing/communications, demonstrating ability to provide leadership and work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Experience with website content management systems (WordPress or other CMS, HTML, CSS)
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and virtual collaboration platforms
  • Experience creating and updating visually-compelling content for the web
  • Familiarity with Website Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices
  • Experience with communication and relationship building
  • Strong organizational abilities and a flexible approach to changing priorities and workload
  • Experience managing website projects, including redesign, development and maintenance
  • Commitment to fostering diversity through inclusive design and language
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to coordinate and interface with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Experience or familiarity with agriculture
  • Experience evaluating communications via analytics

  • Oversee completion of website redevelopment project and any associated updates, trainings and policies required to support project goals

  • Lead Website Content Managers committee to train and support departmental admins/communicators
