Summary of Job Duties:
The Web Designer reports to the Director of Digital Strategy.
Produces designs, graphic art, and visual materials, for websites.
Develops code bases to support websites and related technologies.
Provides and maintains the ongoing design of websites to ensure consistency in style, tone, and quality of the organization’s site.
Performs research and data analysis and utilizes reporting tools for project design.
Develops and publishes standards, and guidelines relating to digital user experience.
Tests technologies for compliance with accessibility laws and standards for internal and external entities.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in information technology, business administration, or related field
At least three years of experience in web design or user experience
Applicable equivalencies may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher education in Mass Communications, Computer Science, or Information Systems
More than five years of experience as a web professional in higher education
At least three years of managerial experience
Experience in digital marketing or advertising – agency experience is a plus
Deep understanding of relevant KPI’s, metric analysis, and report creation
Certification in User Experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of system/equipment capability, design restrictions, and security requirements
Knowledge of structured systems development concepts
Knowledge of client/server, database, and web-based technologies
Knowledge and understanding of technical and vendor documentation and ability to maintain internal documentation
Strong relationship management, organizational, and project management skills
Superior verbal and written communication skills, both internal and client-facing
Ability to develop strategic framework for content
Ability to identify opportunities for growth and incremental opportunities with client partners
Ability to update job knowledge by researching new internet/intranet technologies and software products
Ability to participate in educational opportunities
Ability to read professional publications
Ability to maintain personal networks
Ability to participate in professional organizations
Ability to work with others on the team to cross-train and cross-develop knowledge of systems to provide back up and redundancy in job scopes and responsibilities
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to apply consultative skills to assess user needs and communicate technology systems and solutions
Ability to define and set up an effective user testing environment and plan
Ability to perform interactive debugging and to test and analyze program or display failures
Ability to be punctual and dependable

Salary Information:
$40,000 – $70,000 Commensurate with education and experience
