Job Description

The Web and Information Designer is responsible for managing the design and development of the College of Engineering and Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station websites. Assists with the management, support and updates to the College of Engineering and Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station websites. Creates web template designs and works collaboratively with TEES centers and divisions, college departments, labs, and programs to implement websites on the content management systems. Provides support to WordPress and Cascade content management systems’ content editors.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages the design of website theme templates.
  • Assists with the development of websites using HTML, CSS, PHP and Java Script.
  • Assists TEES centers and administrative units with web needs.
  • Assists the College of Engineering with web needs.
  • Trains new content editors.
  • Represents the College of Engineering at the university level in various working groups and/or initiatives.
  • Assists with the graphic design needs of other digital collateral for the College of Engineering and TEES.
  • Function as team lead on various digital projects.
  • Assist with the assignment of tasks and duties within TeamWork project and desk project management tools.
  • May supervise web design staff and student tech worker(s).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Required Experience:

  • Three years of professional web design and development experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Verifiable expert level of knowledge in HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript, Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office.
  • Verifiable intermediate to expert level knowledge of WordPress administration and website development
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.0 AA web accessibility requirements.
  • Knowledge of content architecture.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects.
