Offer Description

As a young campus university with a focus on the humanities, the University of Trier is characterized above all by its extensive international network. With currently about 11,000 students and about 2,000 employees, it is one of the largest employers in the Trier region. In the Department I of the University of Trier is in the subject of Nursing Science as soon as possible in the civil service for life to fill the following position:

 

W 2 -Professorship in Nursing Science with a focus on in-depth nursing practice (LBesG) (m/f/d)

 

The position holder will represent Nursing Science in teaching and research with a special focus on nursing practice. The focus should be on clinical nursing phenomena or specific nursing areas (e.g., palliative care, geriatrics, oncology), research on nursing interventions, and strengthening application-oriented as well as advanced clinical nursing skills. All settings (acute inpatient care, rehabilitation, long-term care) are addressed. Within the framework of the examination and teaching obligations in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs of the subject, a special commitment to the cooperation with the practice partners and the design of the state examinations in the degree program “Clinical Nursing” as well as to the cooperation in the further development of the degree programs is required. In addition to teaching and research, the position holder fulfills tasks of academic self-administration. 

 

Outstanding internationally visible scientific achievements and experience in acquiring third-party funding in the field of research to be represented, pedagogical aptitude, and willingness to cooperate responsibly with the involved practice collaboration partners and non-university partners are expected. Required for the position is authorisation to use the professional title under Section 1(1), Section 58(1), (2) or Section 64 of the German Nursing Professions Act (Pflegeberufegesetz). In addition, excellent knowledge of the requirements and structures of academic nursing education in Germany is expected. The language of teaching and examination is German. Therefore, very good knowledge of the German language, both written and spoken, is required. In addition, there should be connectivity for collaborations in teaching and research within and outside the department, i.e., in the subject of nursing science, with other subjects related to health sciences, and with practice collaboration partners. Ideally, experience has been gained with the specific care structures in Germany.

 

The official duties result from § 48 HochSchG. The requirements for employment result from § 49 HochSchG. Reference is made to § 50 para. 5 sentences 5 and 6 HochSchG. If the requirements for a civil service position are not met, the position may be filled as an employee. The state of Rhineland-Palatinate and the University of Trier advocate a supervision concept in which a high degree of presence of the teaching staff at the university location is expected. The University of Trier strives to increase the number of female employees and strongly encourages women to apply.
