The Visiting Fellow will perform job duties equivalent to a senior-level Ph.D. Student Research Assistant in the field of cancer metabolism research as directed by the Principal Investigator within the Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Ohio State University.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a two-year study abroad educational/training position

  • Under the guidance of the principal investigator (PI), will conceptualize, design, implement, and evaluate a research project that will forward the objectives of the PI’s research program

  • Learn, adopt and implement new laboratory methods including, but not limited to, basic and advanced molecular biology/immunology/cell biology/microbiology techniques and research using animal models

  • Collect, analyze and interpret research data

  • Perform critical analysis of literature relevant to research

  • Attend any training courses requested by the PI

  • Consult and collaborate with fellow lab members for training in procedures and protocols used in research

  • Collaborate with PI to write and prepare research papers for publication

  • Attend and present at local and/or national conferences, if requested

Minimum Education Required: 

  • BS degree and 3 years of PhD-level graduate education required

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in molecular biology, biochemistry, cancer biology and animal models (mice) are required. Immunology experience is also desired

  • Requires successful completion of a background check

  • Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen

By the start of employment, all newly hired employees must receive at least the first dose of a two-dose series or a single dose of a one-dose series COVID-19 vaccination. Individuals who choose a two-dose series vaccination must receive the second dose within 45 days of their start date. Proof of vaccination will be required at time of hire.

 

Candidates may request a medical or religious exemption from the vaccination requirement. Campus employees may also request an exemption for personal reasons. Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, College of Medicine or OSUP Employees are not eligible for personal exemptions. All exemptions are subject to Ohio State’s approval and subject to change, including revocation, due to legal and regulatory requirements.
