Main purpose of job: Working as part of the Asia-Pacific Trade and Investment team, the Specialist will lead the execution, and contribute to the development of a programme of activities and customer engagements, across the targeted opportunity areas aligning with Scotland’s renewable energy transition in their market and as requested support Asia region or Global Lead Generation activity. The job holder will apply innovative thought to identify and match opportunities in Scotland with the targeted companies’ needs and proactively work with them to uncover or co-generate potential new inward investment projects and opportunities for international trade. As the only SDI member of Staff in Korea you will be working closely both with the SDI team across Asia-Pacific, but also directly with colleagues in other departments in the British Embassy in Seoul, in particular with the Department for Business and Trade, on areas of common interest.

Span of Control: No direct reports
Accountability: Reports to Director of Investment Asia Pacific
Level of Accountability:
- Development of productive networks of stakeholders and intermediaries and engagement across a range of existing and potential customers
- Designing and delivering customer engagements
External accountability:
- With networks and stakeholders
- With existing and potential inward investment customers in Scotland and around the world, and to trade customers in Scotland and South Korea.
Global span of control: Working with colleagues and stakeholders in Scotland and globally.
Financial responsibility: Financial discipline for delegated project budgets
Key performance indicators:
- Delivery of Inward Investment related to the lead generation phase of the customer journey that drives achievement of the business plan measures; and Trade KPIs for forecasted sales based on exports.
- This role will be at least 80% customer facing.
Learning and development opportunities:
SDI provides a range of training opportunities in Inward Investment promotion skills including consultative selling, networking, communication and project management.
Successful candidate will be expected to complete mandatory online learning courses and encouraged to pursue other relevant training opportunities.
Additional formal learning to be agreed between successful applicant and Line Manager.

Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:15 (17:00 on Fridays). However, occasional evening and weekend working may be required, for which time off in lieu is given. The British Embassy Seoul encourages flexible working and various flexible working arrangements are possible with line manager agreement, including working from home.
