The British Embassy in Cairo is looking to recruit a Post Security Manager (PSM), job grade Executive Officer (EO).
Main purpose of job:
To support the Post Security Officer (PSO) and Regional Security Advisor (RSA) in the delivery of effective security and safety measures at the British Embassy Cairo and UK staff residences; appropriately mitigating and managing risk, ensuring the safety of staff and assets under normal working conditions whilst also preparing for times of crisis.
To lead a team of 20 Security Guards employed by the Embassy. Setting and monitoring operational procedures and standards and ensuring excellent Line Management in line with embassy values.
Supporting the RSA in the consideration, planning, implementation and operation of physical security measures at the British Embassy Cairo, overseeing these measures at the embassy and UK-based properties and managing day-to-day access issues as they arise.
Act as the point of contact with local police, law enforcement agencies, the military and other Egyptian government agencies, developing and maintaining good working relations with senior police officers and counterparts in the host government and partner embassies, liaising on the provision of police and other security support to the embassy.
Support the Corporate Services Team (CST) delivering essential services to the embassy in daily operations and in the maintenance and updating of crisis stores.
Assist with updating security elements of crisis management plans, ensuring staff and families are aware and fully briefed. Act as a member of the Crisis Emergency Team, providing security advice and assistance during crisis or emergency situations.
Help structured emergency procedure training for guards, staff and families. Planning and conducting emergency drills and the weekly testing of all alarm systems.
Be the focal point for Country Based Staff (CBS) security clearance processes, coordinating requirements with the RSA and HR team.
Conduct security briefings for new CBS staff and official visitors as required and issue security passes (if applicable).
In collaboration with the Secure Technical Services Officer (STSO), manage and maintain technical security systems of the embassy, including emergency communications equipment and pass control.
Assist in the preparation and coordination of additional security measures for major embassy events and VIP visits, liaising with venue security and local law enforcement.
Undertaking additional duties in support of embassy requirements.

Eligibility:
Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in Egypt.
Remuneration:
The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including a non-negotiable gross salary of USD 1,570 per month, subject to insurance and tax as per the usual regulations, based on a 36 hours per week. However, employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.
The nature of this role does not allow for full remote working, however there maybe opportunities to work from home occasionally in line with BE Cairo’s policy.
We offer a competitive package including medical benefits, performance related bonus, recreational facilities, opportunities for job related training and development, etc. There are no other allowances payable as part of this package. No accommodation nor relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.
This role is for a full-time employment on a fixed term contract basis for one (1) year, subject to three (3) months’ probationary period.

Process:
The recruitment process, including security clearance, is expected to take around 2-3 months. The security clearance process includes checks available in country and with UK, dependant on the security level required for the role and the candidates profile and UK footprint. You may experience some delay in the progress of this recruitment campaign, and we are working hard to minimise any disruption.
Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful at interview may be placed on a ‘reserve list’. If during the reserve period of six (6) months the same or a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.
