About the opportunity

With a global reputation for excellence in collaborative and transdisciplinary educational and social research, Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Education is seeking a Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow to join our  Early Years Research Lab (EYRL) . The Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow will primarily be responsible for leading the research into early years education with a focus on one or more of the following areas:

• Early learning and literacy
• Early intervention and children’s outcomes
• Inclusive education in ECEC
• The transition to school
• A quality early childhood workforce
• Quality ECEC provision

Being internationally connected and collaborating with global leaders in the field, the EYRL works with research end-users to reduce educational inequalities and promote positive outcomes for all young children through universal access to and experience of quality early childhood education and care. As a Vice Chancellor’s Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow, you will be engaged in research to further expertise within this growing profile. Your core responsibilities will include:

• Grow the world-leading research activities of the EYRL;
• Engage in university-wide and Faculty of Education research activities, contributing to a robust research culture;
• Lead esteemed research publications in high ranked journals and research outlets; and
• Liaise with project stakeholders and partners regularly to manage the success of project activities and outcomes.

About you

You will be passionate about Early Years Education and Care or Early Childhood Development, with experience in relevant research publication activity, demonstrating the social impact of that research in practice. You will have a strong publication profile in early childhood education or early childhood development, along with experience working within research and on funded projects. Readiness for a DECRA will be highly regarded. More specifically, you will have:

• A PhD in Education, and relevant research experience aligned with the Early Years Research Lab;
• Demonstrated ability to carry out research, contributing to multidisciplinary, team-based research activities;
• Track record, relevant to opportunity in publications and research income generation; and,
• Well-developed written and communication skills, including research engagement and impact.

Salary and benefits

• Full-time, fixed term (3 years)
• Located at either Coffs Harbour, Gold Coast or Lismore. Generous relocation support available
• Academic Level B or C:
  • Academic Level C –The base salary ranges from $123,900 – $142,531 per annum, plus 17% employer contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $166,761 per annum is offered for a Senior Lecturer appointment.
  • Academic Level B –The base salary ranges from $101,544 – $120,179 per annum plus 17% employer contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $140,609.
