The Venture Development Analyst 2/Business Development Specialist will serve as a SBDC Business Advisor that fosters a strong climate for small business growth by providing in-depth, confidential, one-on-one business counseling, training, and resource / referral services to Ohio’s small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs. The advisor will promote business development services and programs at OSU South Centers.  Prepares and delivers information and education on business development through a variety of methods and media. Collaborates with community, campus, and professional organizations to stimulate entrepreneurship and business development.

Small Business Counseling, Training, and Reporting Requirements: 
• Interview and assess client needs.
• Provide counseling or e-counseling that includes feasibility, financial, regulatory, and operational guidance, and technical assistance on the various aspects of starting and expanding a successful small business.
• Develop a resource network to be used in providing referrals to appropriate resources.
• Plan and market no- to low-cost training on subjects relevant to small business start-up and growth. 
• Evaluate programs’ effectiveness and measure impact of services provided.
• Ensure timely and accurate counseling data input into Center IC client information management system.
• Promote the SBDC program and advocate for small business through presentations to communities and entities.
• Develop relationships with key stakeholders including, but not limited to, SBA, Ohio Development Services Agency, banks, chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, trade group

Position is based at OSU South Centers, Piketon, OH.  Successful completion of background check is required. 

Required Experience:

Minimum required qualifications:  Professional presentation skills; demonstrated experience in business, accounting, finance, human resources, marketing; demonstrated problem-solving, analytical and interpersonal skills; computer/internet literacy and Microsoft Office skills; valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.  2 years of relevant experience required.  2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.  

Desired Experience:

Three years’ experience in a business related environment. Experience with implementing business plans; knowledge of best business practices, public speaking, training and classroom experience.

Additional Information:

The pay range for this job profile is $52,290.00 (minimum) – $69,705.00 (mid range) annual salary with GDI @ 90%. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.
