Working Title Utility Electrician
Brief Summary of Job Description Coordinate the inspection, maintenance, testing, repair, operation, troubleshooting of campus electrical distribution systems and associated medium voltage equipment.
Job Duties Assist in the planning and execution of maintenance shutdowns, and corrective/preventative maintenance plans. Collaborate and partner with internal and external groups to address critical and broad-scoped projects including working with Facilities Engineering, Maintenance, Utilities Companies and outside contractors.
Coordinate the inspection, maintenance, testing, repair, operation, troubleshooting of campus electrical distribution systems and associated equipment.
Coordinate installation, maintenance, testing, and repair on electric utility distribution system load switches, transformers, power circuit breakers, duct banks, power cables, manholes, switchgear, metering.
Respond to medium and high voltage work requests including serving as tactical subject matter expert.
Install, connect, test, operate, modify, repair and replace circuit breakers, controls, fuses, outdoor lighting fixtures, parking lamps, motors, outlets, switches, and other wiring devices. Test, operate, calibrate, adjust, clean, service and repair electrical components and systems.
Will be on rotating backup shift schedule to cover vacationing staff on 24-hour crew.
Required Qualifications High School diploma, completion of a 4-year Journeyman program, or 2-year vocational technical program and two years of electrical construction or service experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
Preferred Qualifications Nebraska State Contractor or Masters Electrician License
Physical Demands Must be able to sit, stand, lift, kneel, climb for majority of work day.
Schedule 7am – 4 pm, M-F
