*UoL Redeployees only* POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE IN PARTICLE PHYSICS (T2K experiment)

University of Liverpool

The particle physics research group in Liverpool is looking for a highly motivated individual to work with us on the T2K experiment. The post is fully funded through the STFC consolidated grant until September 2025 with good prospects of a further extension.

You will work on analysis of data from the T2K experiment. T2K is undergoing a series of upgrades including the upgrade to the ND280 near detector, additional beam power and the addition of Gadolinium to Super Kamiokande, each of which opens up exciting new opportunities for physics from T2K. At Liverpool the successful candidate will develop physics analyses of data from the upgraded ND280 detector and/or Super Kamiokande and support the operation of the ND280 detector. In addition, the group leads the development of the optical calibration for the future Hyper Kamiokande detector, in particular the light injection system, the successful candidate may also make significant contributions in these areas.

A PhD in particle physics and experience of programming with C++ and python are required. An extensive experience of data analysis in neutrino experiments is highly desirable.  The applicant must be capable of independent research as well as working effectively in a team. The successful applicant will be required to travel and spend periods of time in Japan.

The post is available on a fixed term basis, until 30 September 2025.
