UNV: Website Management Training Support – Washington DC

JOB DESCRIPTION

Organization Mission

IWAC is an international network of women in anthropology and related fields whose research and action projects focus on issues of concern to women around the world. Our Goals are
• To exchange information on current research and action in support of women’s human rights,

• To develop a cross-cultural, comparative framework for work done on and by women, and

• To bring socio-cultural research perspectives to bear on national and international policies relevant to women’s lives and livelihoods.

Context

The International Women’s Anthropology Conference (IWAC) is a network of more than 100 members in 15 different countries dedicated to communication about social research and action related to women’s human rights. Activities in recent years include quarterly round-table seminars (online) and organized meetings at professional conferences and the United Nations annual meetings of the Commission on the Status of Women. IWAC has four officers, two Co-Presidents and two Vice Presidents, who work as volunteers. IWAC has a website: www.iwacwomen.org. This is an essential part of the organization’s communication strategy. The website was set up (through wix.com) about five years ago and for the past year has been managed by one of the Vice Presidents. She, however, is a young professional who is not available for prolonged periods of time. So the remaining three officers need to learn how to perform basic posting and editing activities, to keep it current throughout the year.

At the end of this assignment, we expect to have

One website content management user guide and One brief document containing recommendations for improving website organization and presentation.
