Essential Job Functions

  • Oversees and manages the daily functions of the academic services area which include master schedules, faculty to student ratios, academic counseling, and curriculum programming
  • Monitors the integrity of student academic records to maintain compliance
  • Monitors and evaluates all academic operations (e.g. end-of-term processing, closing out graduates, scheduling students) to comply with accreditation, regulatory, customer service and university requirements
  • Monitors policy exceptions to verify compliance with administrative policies and procedures
  • Maintains review of the university catalog and student handbook and makes necessary edits, as needed
  • Monitors student communications related to academic services
  • Collaborates with the academic community to determine the academic calendar
  • Serves on various committees (e.g. provost, dean’s, commencement) to assure that policy is aligned with business operations
  • Collaborates with cross-campus academic personnel to demonstrate consistent interpretation of policies and adherence to the operational calendar
  • Collaborates with cross-campus financial personnel to meet federal financial aid requirements
  • Reviews department and university policies against current needs and practices, making recommendations for changes, as necessary
  • Acts as a liaison with information technology on all processes involving system functionality that provide services to students
  • Manages reporting capabilities within academic services and/or in collaboration with institutional research to support data-informed decision-making for university stakeholders
  • Prepares and monitors the department budget
  • Supervises and develops the department staff, facilitating professional opportunities to improve individual capability and managing performance against job accountabilities, department goals and established university, campus and department policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a master’s degree
  • Significant amount of experience working in a higher education registrar’s office or other related experience
  • Demonstrated experience with registration processes and student records
  • Familiarity with records-keeping procedures, FERPA, and other legal issues related to academic records
  • Proven track record managing and leading a team
  • Proficiency using Ellucian Banner and Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or greater in business, education, or a related field of study
