Offer DescriptionThe Faculty of Medicine at the Johannes Kepler University Linz invites applications for a permanent professorship position under private law for a Professor ofPediatric Hematology and Oncologyto begin immediately. The appointment is in accordance with § 98 of the Austrian Universities Act. A performance review and evaluation will be conducted after a five-year period.The successful candidate will be expected to represent the full depth and breadth at the Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology in terms of teaching, research, and patient care, and contribute substantially to ensuring teaching/education and research in the field of pediatrics and adolescent medicine. The professorship position includes managing the Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine (§ 31 para. 4 Austrian Universities Act). The position as department head is limited to a five-year period.The successful candidate must hold a habilitation/post-doctorate degree in the above-mentioned field, or comparable, internationally recognized advanced academic qualifications. As part of the appointment procedure, the JKU also reserves to right to assess the prospective applicant’s qualifications (particularly in regards to patient care skills) during an on-site visit of the workplace.The annual gross minimum salary in accordance with the collective agreement (salary level A1, minimum salary of currently € 89,075.00 based on full-time employment). As part of the appointment negotiations, the final salary will be negotiated with the Rector. Detailed negotiations regarding healthcare will be conducted with management at the Kepler University Hospital.When assessing the candidates’ accomplishments, performance, and future potential, the JKU will take the candidates’ individual background and personal history into account by acknowledging that academic and professional success and accomplishments can happen at different stages in life (and can include periods of reduced employment, or career interruption on account of having to provide care, childcare, etc.).
