Then join our accomplished team!Where to apply WebsiteRequirementsSpecific RequirementsYour personal sphere of influence:The working group “Probabilistic and Interactive Machine Learning” within the research group “Data Mining and Machine Learning” at the Faculty of Computer Science develops methods of machine learning and artificial intelligence, especially in the areas of reinforcement learning and deep probabilistic models, and deals with the interaction of these methods and their users, e.g. with a focus on the efficient training of AI agents through human feedback. To strengthen our team, we are looking for a university assistant with a focus on Learning Theory, Representation Learning for Reinforcement Learning.The employment contract is initially limited to 1.5 years and is automatically extended to a total of 3 years, unless the employer declares non-renewal after a maximum of 12 months. An extension of up to 4 years is possible if the candidate proves himself/herself and makes appropriate progress.Your future tasks:You are actively involved in research, teaching & administration, which means:

• Participation in research projects / scientific studies Participation in publications / scientific articles / lecturing activities
• Participation in conferences and publication of your research results in journals and at conferences
• Conclusion of a dissertation agreement within 12-18 months (if not already in place)
• Participation in and independent teaching of courses in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement
• Supervision of students
• Participation in the organization of meetings, conferences, symposia
• Participation in the administration of the institute, teaching and research

Requirements:

• Completed Master’s degree (or comparable degree) in computer science, mathematics, data science or a related field
• High analytical and mathematical skills
• High level of written and oral communication skills
• Very good written and spoken English skills
• IT user skills
• Cooperative, team-oriented and proactive behavior
• Excellent knowledge of learning theory with a focus on represention learning for reinforcement learning and excellent general knowledge in the field of machine learning
• Outstanding academic achievements, especially first research results
• Research results in the outlined field of work with publication potential or first publications
• High level of written and oral communication skills
