As a driver of innovation, TU Wien fosters close collaboration with business and industry and contributes to the prosperity of society.At the Institute of Materials Chemistry, in the Research Group for Model Catalysis and Applied Catalysis TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (prae-doc) limited to expected 4 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: July 2024.Tasks:
- Experimental investigation of reactions on surfaces using microscopy (e.g. electron microscopy, field emission microscopy) or spectroscopy (XPS, IR)
- Experiment planning and evaluation of complex video data
- Operation of an ultra-high vacuum system
- Participation, co-design and implementation of courses in German and English, including examinations
- Supervision of interns, BSc and MSc students
- Deepening scientific knowledge
- Writing a dissertation and scientific publications
- Participation in scientific events
- Participation in organizational and administrative tasks
Your profile:
- Relevant, completed diploma or master’s degree in chemistry or technical chemistry or equivalent university degree at home or abroad
- Laboratory experience in the field of physical chemistry and surface chemistry
- Analytical scientific approach to work: ability to analyze complex problems, develop hypotheses and think critically
- Knowledge of scientific work
- Working experience with (ultra-high) vacuum technology is an advantage
- Work experience with automated data analysis is an advantage
- Experience with scientific publications is an advantage
- Excellent knowledge of English (language level C1)
- Due to the integration into teaching, knowledge of German at C1 level is a prerequisite
- Ability to work in a team, problem-solving skills and the ability to innovate
- Interested in research in the subject area and in working with students
