As a driver of innovation, TU Wien fosters close collaboration with business and industry and contributes to the prosperity of society.At the Institute of Telecommunications of TU Wien, the Research Unit of Networks is offering a PhD student position as university assistant (prae-doc, 30 hours/week, limited to expected 4 years). Expected start: September 2024.Tasks:

• Research and teaching tasks
• Cooperation in project activities
• Writing a dissertation and scientific publications
• (Co)Supervision of students
• Assistance in teaching in the field of network security and communication networks, including preparation and supervision of laboratories in this field
• Participation in scientific events
• Assisting with organizational and administrative tasks

Your profile:

• Master’s or diploma degree (e.g. electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics) or equivalent university degree from Austria or abroad.
• Knowledge of scientific work
• Good theoretical and practical knowledge in the areas of communication networks (IPv4, IPv6, TLS, IPsec, transport layer protocols), network security and data analysis methods
• Knowledge in the following areas is an advantage: network data analysis, anomaly detection, machine learning, secure communication protocols in energy networks (smart grids, microgrids), network simulation (e.g. ns-3), programming skills
• Excellent knowledge of English, knowledge of German is an advantage
• Interest in research in the field and in working with students
• Ability to work in a team, problem-solving skills and innovative ability
