At the Atominstitut, in the Research Unit of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information, TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (prae-doc) / PhD position in Quantum communication network protocols limited to expected 4 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: July 2024.
Tasks:
- Collaboration on research and teaching tasks as well as examinations
- Cooperation and guidance of students research and project activity
- Writing a dissertation and publications
- Participation in scientific and outreach events
- Assistance/Collaboration in organizational and administrative tasks
Your profile:
- Completion of a master or diploma curriculum in Physics, or related fields, until the time of occupation
- Experience in the following scientific fields: quantum information theory, entanglement theory, quantum cryptography (not required)
- Skills in programming (e.g., C++, Python, Wolfram Mathematica, or similar)
- Good communication skills and ability to work as an independent and flexible researcher in an international and diverse team, problem-solving skills and innovative thinking
- Interest in research in the field as well as outreach activities, supervision and work with students
- Very good skills in English communication and writing

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,684.10/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
