As a driver of innovation, TU Wien fosters close collaboration with business and industry and contributes to the prosperity of society.At the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management, in the Research Unit of Hydraulic Engineering and Environmental Hydromechanics TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (prae-doc) limited to expected 4 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: November 2024.Tasks:

• PhD research on stratified flows including numerical simulations and optical thermography
• Collaboration on teaching tasks as well as examinations
• Cooperation and guidance of students
• Contribution to projects
• Writing a dissertation and publications
• Participation in scientific events
• Assistance/Collaboration in organizational and administrative tasks

Your profile:

• Completion of a master or diploma curriculum in one of these fields: applied physics, mechanical engineering, civil and environmental engineering, or equivalent
• Skillful and responsible in experimental work
• Experience in the following scientific fields is a bonus: stratified flows, numerical simulations with OpenFOAM, optical thermography
• Very good skills in English communication and writing and motivation to learn German
• Interest in research in the field as well as supervision and work with students
• Very good communicative skills and team competences and innovative ability
