As a driver of innovation, TU Wien fosters close collaboration with business and industry and contributes to the prosperity of society.At the Atomic and Subatomic Physics, in the Research Unit of Quantum Metrology TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (post-doc) expected for 8 months for 30 hours/week. Expected start date: October 2024.Tasks:

  • Simulation of real-life effects on the performance of atomic and nuclear clocks (numerical and analytical)
  • Theoretical study of collective effects (super radiance, coherent forward scattering…) in atomic and nuclear ensembles in the context of spectroscopy and metrology
  • Development of multi-photon excitation strategies of the Thorium-229 nuclear isomeric state
  • Study of collisional effects in strongly driven (RF, MW) atomic ensembles
  • Statistical analysis of experimental data

Your profile:

  • Completion of an appropriate doctorate and in-depth knowledge of the subject area
  • Experience in national and international research cooperation as well as in project management and presentations
  • Proven solid theoretical background in light-atom and light-nucleus interaction as well as laser cooling and trapping, precision spectroscopy, atomic collisions, collective quantum effect
  • Proven ability to attract 3rd party funding
  • Proven ability to supervise students on PhD and master level
  • Organizational and analytical skills as well as a structured way of working
  • Excellent command of the English language and very good communicative skills and team competences
