UNFPA: Support Content Creation for the International Youth Day 2026 in Pakistan – Islamabad
International Rescue Committee
JOB DESCRIPTION
Organization Mission
UNFPA is the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency. Its mission is to deliver a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person’s potential is fulfilled. UNFPA Pakistan works closely with the Government of Pakistan and partners to advance the rights and well-being of young people, including their access to education, health, protection, and meaningful participation.
UNICEF works in over 190 countries to protect the rights of every child, including adolescents and youth, promoting their health, education, protection, and participation in decisions that affect their lives.
The UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (UNRCO) in Pakistan leads and coordinates the work of the UN system to support the Government of Pakistan in achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including through joint initiatives that amplify youth voices and priorities.
Context
International Youth Day is observed globally on 12 August. The 2026 theme, ‘Different Contexts, Common Aspirations’, recognizes that while young people’s lives are shaped by diverse national and local realities, their aspirations for dignity, opportunity, participation, and a sustainable future remain remarkably similar across borders.
To mark International Youth Day 2026 in Pakistan, UNFPA, UNICEF, and UNRCO are jointly launching a Youth Video Challenge inviting young Pakistanis to create and share short-form videos reflecting on the theme. The initiative aims to amplify youth voices from across Pakistan’s diverse contexts (urban, rural, provincial), while connecting their aspirations to those of young people worldwide.
A dedicated local campaign hashtag, #YouthkiAwazPK (‘Awaz’ meaning ‘Voice’ in Urdu — the Voice of Pakistan’s Youth), will be used to unify content across platforms and link it to the global IYD conversation. Selected videos will be reposted on the official social media platforms of UNFPA Pakistan, UNICEF Pakistan, and the UN in Pakistan.
Key Responsibilities
We are looking for 50 Online Volunteers who, under the guidance of and in close collaboration with the UNFPA Pakistan Communications team, UNICEF Pakistan, and UNRCO, will support the design and delivery of the International Youth Day 2026 Video Challenge. – Post the videos on their personal social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube Shorts, X/Twitter) using the campaign hashtag #YouthkiAwazPK together with the official hashtag #YouthDay2026, and tag @UNFPAPakistan, @UNICEFPakistan, and @UNinPakistan.
– Coordinate with the joint UN communications focal points on content guidelines, posting schedule, and messaging consistency.
– Support outreach to peer networks, youth groups, and universities to encourage broader participation in the challenge.
– Provide raw video files and consent/release forms to the UN communications teams for videos selected for reposting on official UNFPA, UNICEF, and UN in Pakistan social media platforms.
– Engage respectfully and constructively with comments and audience engagement generated by their posted content during the campaign period.
The Online Volunteers should be able to participate in the virtual orientation in the first week of the campaign. Volunteers will have the second week to conceptualize their video. Week three will be used for production following concept approval, and week four for a final post-publication report. Selected videos will be reshared or collabed on agency social media channels in accordance with UNFPA policy, while all participants’ profiles and video links will be featured on the website.
as well as join the communication group provided.
The Online Volunteers will have the opportunity to build connections with UNFPA, UNICEF, and UNRCO communications teams in Pakistan, gain practical experience in digital storytelling and advocacy, and contribute directly to raising national and global visibility of youth priorities.
