The Department of History’s Co-Lab, Centre for Community-Engaged and Collaborative Historical Research is seeking to fill multiple undergraduate researcher positions for the summer 2024. Students will work on one of three community-engaged projects, conducting independent archival and oral history research.
Key Responsibilities:
The undergraduate student researcher(s) will be trained, mentored, and supervised by Co-Lab Director, Dr. Cheryl Troupe and the Co-Lab Coordinator, Jessy Lee Saas. The student researcher will take the lead on project organization, research, and analysis. Student researcher(s) will conduct archival research; analyze primary and secondary source research; conduct, transcribe, and analyze oral history interviews; produce oral and written reports; and assist in selecting, editing, and compiling audio/visual materials. They will be required to prepare data and information for projects using the appropriate software. They will be expected to handle confidential and sensitive data with integrity and follow research ethics protocols as approved by the University of Saskatchewan Research Ethics Board. Some overnight travel may be required. Students are required to register in History 314 from May 1-27, after which their formal employment will begin. History 314 is designed to provide students with the skills and training required of their individual research projects. Students will receive academic credit for this course.

Work may be completed on campus (in the Co-Lab) and remotely. Fieldwork will be conducted with the community partner and at the Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan in Regina. The number of hours per week differ between projects and may vary from 20 to 35 hours per week. Work hours will normally be scheduled between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, from May 27 to August 31 with some flexibility within these parameters.
