UH Earth and Atmospheric Science Graduate Student Assistantships

The University of Houston’s Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences is looking for applicants to our M.S. and Ph.D. programs with support as teaching assistants (TA). A TA position is a 9-month appointment that can be renewed for up to 5 years of support for a Ph.D. student or 2 years for an M.S. student and includes health insurance. The assistantship covers tuition for Ph.D. students and reduces tuition to the in-state rate for M.S. students. Research assistantships may also be available.

The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences addresses fundamental questions in the Earth and planetary sciences. Our transformative and interdisciplinary research refines the understanding of how major Earth and planetary systems develop and interact. We inform society on a broad range of topics, from modern storm-induced urban hazards to when and how some of the first-formed solids in the solar system developed. We offer Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in geology, geophysics, and atmospheric science. Our broad and cross-disciplinary departmental expertise engages major questions in the following areas:
