Offer Description

We are looking for two PhD-students, one with a chemistry/environment chemistry background and one with a physics/environmental physics background to work on a DFG-project related to the fate of sunscreens UV-filters in bathing lakes. The position is for 3 years and will start in January 2024. The host institute (iES-Landau) located in Landau Pfalz is part of the University of Kaiserslautern-Landau. Skills/Qualifications

First position environmental chemistry:

Successfully completed master’s or diploma degree at a university or comparable institution of higher education in a field of study with a chemical or environmental chemistry focus. Very good basic knowledge in colloid chemistry is required.

Very good knowledge and experience with analytical instrumentation (ICP-MS, light scattering, electron microscope) and nanoparticles is desired.

 

Second position Environmental Physics:

Successfully completed master’s or graduate degree at a university or comparable college in a field of study with a scientific or environmental focus. Knowledge of fluid mechanics and process-oriented modelling is desirable. 

 

For both positions:

A goal-oriented approach, creativity, initiative, and proactivity are required for both positions. Very good English language skills are required. Willingness to perform field tests and a Class B driver’s license are required.
