Tutor (Making Atelier)

TUTOR IN ARCHITECTURE – MAKING ATELIER (1 ROLE)

Joining the Manchester School of Architecture as a Tutor in Architecture you will be responsible for teaching within one of our vertical Ateliers which consist of students from the final year of the degree programme as well as the two years of the M.Arch programme. You will work within an Atelier staff team structure which combines core staff along with a number of part time tutors, all with specialist expertise based on the research led agenda of the Atelier.

This specific role is to work within the MAKING atelier which explores the role of making as a creative mode of design enquiry in architecture.  The atelier explores this broad theme in a variety of ways in studio briefs each year to align with staff research interests and student curiosities.

You will be an architect/designer with expertise and experience in digital design (computation/ parametric modelling) and digital fabrication to support students with their thesis projects on small scale prototyping studies as well as larger scale installations and pavilion construction.  These may also contribute to staff research projects. Additionally, industry knowledge in modern methods of construction and modern project delivery would be beneficial but not essential.

Informal discussions can be held with Atelier Leader Matt Ault via m.ault@mmu.ac.uk

In recognition of staff contributions to the University’s achievements during the 2021/2022 academic year, an additional discretionary payment of 2% per annum will be added to your salary until 31/07/23 in order to ensure consistency amongst existing and incoming staff.  This additional 2% will be paid pro rata in equal monthly installments, on top of your salary each month until 31/07/23.
