About the Role

The School seeks to appoint a fixed-term Teaching Associate – Periodic Tutor with the capacity to teach in the Discipline of History.
There are multiple positions available, within a variety of subjects. Please refer to the position description for subject availability. Subject teaching periods are available throughout the calendar year. Dates for the teaching periods are dependent on subject choice.

As the successful applicant, you will be a committed and engaging educator with expertise in teaching Undergraduate students.   

In this position, your primary responsibility will be to deliver your assigned classes within the relevant discipline’s tutorial program and you will report to the Discipline Chair. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting tutorials in the required mode (online, on campus, or blended) to a high standard using the provided tutorial guidelines and relevant content available on LMS
  • Undertaking consultation with students in relation to readings, weekly topics, assessments and skills development
  • Marking assessments, providing timely feedback to students and recording results
  • Reporting matters of academic integrity and escalating student concerns to the Subject Coordinator


The Faculty’s tutorial programs provide opportunities for students to practice their skills of analysis, argument and critique, and to enhance their communication skills.

About You
You will be an experienced and passionate tutor with a background teaching diverse groups of students in a range of delivery modes. You will be able to draw on your excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work independently and as a member of a dynamic team. Your excellent organisational skills will allow you to manage your own time effectively, administer multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines successfully.

You will also have:

  • Completion of or progress towards a Doctoral or Master’s qualification in the relevant discipline or equivalent relevant academic or professional or practice-based experience and expertise
  • High level interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to maintain good working relationships and professionalism with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to interpret and understand policies and procedures relevant to teaching and student support and welfare
