TRIBAL LIBRARIES, ARCHIVES & MUSEUMS (TLAM) & ISCHOOL LIBRARY MANAGER

The iSchool at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks a dynamic professional to join our team as the Tribal Libraries, Archives & Museums (TLAM) & iSchool Library Manager.
The position will be responsible for stewarding the iSchool program in Tribal Libraries, Archives & Museums (TLAM). This involves teaching in the Tribal Libraries, Archives & Museums curriculum. Specifically, it requires working with students to develop and maintain respectful, responsible, and reciprocal relationships with longstanding community partners through ongoing experiential learning projects. A candidate for the position will have a developed understanding of information issues and practices and experience working in Indigenous information and community contexts. The position will also manage the iSchool Laboratory Library. This includes collaborating with a collections librarian and supervising student staff to oversee library operations and user services. The position serves as the subject liaison for library and information studies and information sciences.

• 5% Cultivates and maintains productive relationships with donors, collectors, vendors, and professional colleagues
• 5% Obtains materials, resolves issues, and answers questions that are complex and highly specialized in nature
• 20% Designs, develops, delivers, and assesses instruction in a variety of formats to faculty, staff, students, and other patrons
• 5% Provides specialized services utilizing a high level of expertise on a broad range of disciplines or in a designated discipline area
• 20% Develops or coordinates specialized projects or programs
• 15% Oversees day-to-day functions of one or more library operations or services
• 5% Initiates and solicits input to modify policies, procedures, and assessment tools to improve workflows and/or user experiences
• 5% Serves on committees to advance librarianship at the campus, local, and/or state and national levels
• 10% May direct the day-to-day activities of student workers
• 10% Continually develop knowledge of evolving issues in Indigenous information through research, community involvement, and ongoing relationships.

Required
Master’s Degree
Library and Information Studies or similar field

Required skills/qualifications:
– Master’s in Library and Information Studies or similar field
– Knowledge and experience in tribal libraries, archives or museums
– Experience in building respectful relationships with Indigenous communities and responsibly addressing community information needs
– Understanding of dynamic and evolving issues surrounding Indigenous information
issues
Preferred skills/qualifications:
– 3-5 years of relevant work experience
– Supervisory experience
– Work experience in library, museum, archive, or other information institutions.
– Knowledge/experience in academic libraries and/or public services

Full Time: 100%
This position requires some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and equity within the department and college.
