Description
Shultz Forest Management and Consulting LLC is seeking applicants to fill a full time (40+hrs/week), temporary Tree Planter position. The primary focus of this position is to aid in the planting of thousands of seedlings at a wetland restoration site New Jersey. Typical duties include identifying native nursery seedlings, deciding the planting location based on the individual species’ ecology, and planting the trees based on contract specifications. All necessary tools will be provided. Salary is dependent upon experience and ability starting at $20-$28/hr and includes housing.
Qualifications
This is an extremely labor-intensive field position, and the successful applicant should expect to spend 100% of their time working outdoors, must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds over various terrain, and work in all weather conditions. Encounters with poison ivy, stinging and biting insects, ticks, venomous snakes, and other hazardous conditions common to the forests of the area are possible. Applicant should be able to identify eastern U.S. tree species common to the area. Previous work experience in the forestry services profession is preferred but not required, depending on related work experience and/or education. Experience planting trees is preferred but not required. The successful applicant must demonstrate an ability to work independently and in a team environment. Applicant must present themselves in a professional business-like manner when interacting with contractors, clients, and the public. Applicant must be a legal U.S. resident.
