Here’s a preview of what you’ll be doing:
Thoroughly inspecting rail cars, primarily hoppers cars
Performing rail switching of rail hopper cars
Operating Car Mover to index hopper cars thru the wash tracks and loading tracks
Washing and drying empty rail hopper cars
Loading rail hopper cars with bulk polypropylene pellets
Office related duties – some data entry
General Maintenance (“bolt on – bolt off”) as well as cleaning, housekeeping and snow removal
Looking to expand and develop your skills to perform rail switching and/or locomotive operation
This is what we need from you:
A sound understanding or aptitude to learn the loading of bulk plastics
Understands, or willing to learn, railroad operations and safety
Mechanically inclined
Must be able to attend and pass all test associated with job related coursework. This includes, but it not limited to: IROR, CROR, WHMIS, TDG,
Willing to reliably fulfill the following work schedule: 12 hour rotating shifts (days and nights)
Experience in the petrochemical field or other industrial environment preferred
Locomotive operation and railcar mover experience is an asset
Here are some of the minimum requirements for this role:
A high school diploma
Willing to work outside in any weather condition
Must pass a pre-employment drug screening test, and a criminal background check
Must be able to climb on and off the equipment, ascend and descend a ladder
Must be able to stand, kneel or crawl, and walk extensively throughout the day
Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
