About the Mental Health in Primary Schools Project
The Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) has partnered with the Melbourne Graduate School of Education (MGSE) and Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI) to deliver the Mental Health in Primary Schools Pilot Program. The aim of the pilot is to build the capacity of primary schools to support their student’s mental health and wellbeing.
The project provides participating primary schools with funding for a Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader (MHWL) to implement a whole-school approach to mental health. The MHWL is also provided with an evidence-based training program, developed and delivered by the Melbourne Graduate School of Education involving regular Communities of Practice (CoP) in addition to core content modules regarding mental health literacy and building school capacity to support mental health.

About the Role
This position is currently working from both home and the Parkville campus, and while the role is part time (0.8 FTE), Tuesday and Wednesday are the main delivery days and are necessary to be worked.
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Training Administration Assistant will join a collegiate and supportive team responsible for the delivery of The Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS) Project. The appointee will be responsible for delivering high quality support across a range of diverse tasks including training and development administration, finance and general office administration, IT support, assisting with event coordination and communication. This key role will monitor the team Inbox and coordinate responses about the training program, support the Learning Leaders on training delivery days to ensure zoom sessions run smoothly and assist the Project Manager in organising the Annual Conference.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide general administrative support including assistance with planning and implementation of project tasks.
- Support all training and development administration and coordination for the program.
- Support the delivery of core modules, communities of practice and conferences including scheduling seminar sessions via zoom, technical support during training delivery, communications and collating attendance data, ensuring training materials are uploaded and supplied to participants in advance.
About You
You have an enthusiastic and positive attitude and approach to work, able to work flexibly and collaboratively as a part of a high-performing team. Your strong administration and organisation skills allow you to manage competing priorities and schedule your own work to meet different deadlines. You are committed to providing excellent customer service, and have a high proficiency in the use of software applications such as the Microsoft Office suite and Zoom. Ideally you are proficient in the use of University systems such as Canvas (University of Melbourne’s Learning Management System), though this is not essential to your success in the role.
You will also have:
- Completion of a diploma level qualification with relevant work-related experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to relate effectively with a range of people across all levels of the organisation
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
