The Arthur Lewis Lab for Comparative Economics , which is part of the Department of Economics of the University of Manchester, invites applications for one full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, the Arthur Lewis Postdoctoral Fellowship. The fellowship allows for early career researchers to develop their research portfolio and to strengthen their future position in the academic job market.
The Arthur Lewis Lab is seeking candidates specializing in economic growth, or economic development, or comparative development, or economic history, or political economy. The appointment is expected to begin August 1, 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. in Economics or in a related field by the beginning of employment. The successful applicant is also expected (1) to engage in research of the highest quality publishable in leading international journals, (2) to be able to present their research at high quality international conferences, (3) to participate in the intellectual life of the Arthur Lewis Lab, and the department, and (4) to provide undergraduate teaching up to 20 hours per annum if they choose to.
The Arthur Lewis Lab for Comparative Economics already has more than a dozen researchers working on these fields, including faculty members, postdocs, and PhD students. We have a monthly dedicated Lab seminar and two annual conferences, in addition to all the other intellectual activities of the department and the university.
The position will be offered on a fixed-term contract of 3 years.
