Job Summary The Library of Architecture, Design and Construction is one of two branch libraries at AU and primarily serves the students and faculty in the College of Architecture, Design and Construction. The temporary employee will work in an office environment (20 hours, Monday-Friday) with the librarian, staff member, and 9 student employees.
Temporary Employment Services (TES), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university. TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being:
– Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time
– Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads
– Assistance with special projects
– Seasonal work
– Emergencies

Essential Functions The employee will assist with answering questions at the library’s help desk, via telephone and online chat, assist with troubleshooting computer technology and software, process new library materials, record statistics, and supervise the library’s facility and services in the absence of the librarian. The employee may also perform additional library-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.
This position requires dependability, multi-tasking, strong customer service values, great attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
Job frequently requires standing, walking, reaching, balancing, hearing, handling objects with hands, and occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds.
