The Description:
The Faculty of Education is seeking candidates for up to two new tenure-stream faculty members at the rank of Assistant Professor for supporting both the current Master of Arts (MA) in School Psychology program and our new Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in School and Child Clinical Psychology program. This is an exciting time for faculty teaching in these programs as they work to open the new PsyD program in the fall of 2026 and engage students in a program review of the current MA.
Qualified applicants will possess a doctoral degree in school and/or child-focused clinical psychology from a CPA or APA accredited or equivalent program which will have included a one-year predoctoral residency. If the degree program is equivalent to a CPA or APA accredited program, the predoctoral residency must be CPA or APA accredited. Applicants must be registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia Regulator of Psychology (NSRP). Candidates with a PhD are preferred. Candidates with a PsyD will be considered if they are able to provide evidence of a current or developing program of research.
The ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate knowledge of and/or experience with multiple systems (e.g., schools, health, mental health, justice) that children, youth, and their families might be in contact with. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate knowledge of and/or who have experience working within school systems. Mount Saint Vincent University is committed to efforts that advance equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) in all facets of the university and in the community. Applicants are encouraged to include information supporting their commitment to EDIA in their application materials.
The successful candidates must be willing and able to teach graduate-level courses in assessment and intervention and will be familiar with a range of assessment and intervention strategies and consultation practices that are evidence-based, and aligned with research-informed best practices. The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate research-informed knowledge of current issues in the ethical practice of psychology and an awareness of how to incorporate this into teaching. Demonstrated experience with teaching and student supervision is an asset.
Any research areas related to school and child clinical psychology will be considered; however, preference will be given to candidates whose research relates to the wellbeing and school functioning of children, adolescents, and/or youth. Applicants should be able to articulate how their research informs their approach to teaching and supervision. Research programs should complement and strengthen current faculty research interests. The successful candidates will be able to show evidence of a productive research trajectory.
Please submit:
