TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN TEACHER EDUCATION (SCHOOL YEARS) -STEAM

The Faculty of Education at the University of New Brunswick invites applications for a Tenure Track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Teacher Education (School Years). The start date for this position is July 1, 2026, and is subject to final budgetary approval. The faculty is situated on the unceded and unsurrendered territory of Wolastoqiyik, on the Fredericton campus of UNB in the vibrant and diverse provincial capital of New Brunswick. The salary range and fringe benefits for this position is defined in the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers (AUNBT) 2022 – 2025 Collective Agreement sections 35 and 36B.Responsibilities will include teaching in the School Years program(s) as well as research, supervision, and teaching at the graduate level. The successful candidate will have:
• A Bachelor of Education degree plus a PhD degree (or ABD) in Education;
• A background of research and teaching centering on school years’ focus in
STEAM (sciences, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics);
• Evidence of excellence in teaching with demonstrated pedagogical strengths in
face-to-face and online teaching modalities;
• Demonstrated understanding of various ways of knowing, engagement in critical
thinking, and emphasis on social justice;
• Experience working with diverse populations (e.g., Black, 2SLGBTQIA++,
Wabanaki);
• A minimum of five (5) years of recent teaching experience in a classroom or school
setting.
The ideal candidate should also have:
• A background of teaching and research in mathematics education at the
elementary/early years level;
• A strong passion for and a strong record of teaching at the undergraduate level,
preferably in a Bachelor of Education degree program;
• Knowledge of teacher education program(s) and Teacher Certification structures
and requirements in New Brunswick;
• The ability to teach in one of our Master’s degree streams.

experience.
