Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professor in Software Systems Engineering

Situated in beautiful Wascana Park, one of the largest urban parks in North America, the University of Regina is a comprehensive institution, emphasizing excellence in teaching and research, as well as public service. Experiential learning and cross disciplinary teaching are strongly supported.

The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science presently offers five-full programs in Electronic, Environmental, Industrial, Petroleum and Software Systems Engineering that are accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board. A new Energy Systems Engineering program started in Fall 2023. We also offer M. Eng., M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. programs, as well as interdisciplinary graduate programs. The Faculty offers unique Co-operative Education and Internship programs and has approximately 650 undergraduate and 350 graduate students (about 120 graduate students are in Ph.D. programs). The Faculty has a strong commitment to providing an excellent “systems approach” to engineering education for our students. Each program has a unique implementation of the systems theme, founded on the common underlying goal of producing engineering graduates with a strong base of technical knowledge and with the breadth of complementary skills that successful professional engineers should have in the workplace.

The Faculty enjoys close collaborative relationships with industry and government research laboratories. These include the Sylvia Fedoruk Canadian Centre for Nuclear Innovation, SaskPower, the Saskatchewan Research Council, the University’s Energy Transition Hub, Clean Energy Technologies Research Institute (CETRI) and the Institute for Energy, Environment and Sustainable Communities (IEESC). More information on the Faculty can be found on our website at: www.uregina.ca/engg/.

The Software Systems Engineering program is designed to educate students to be skilled in the professional construction and engineering of software systems and their life cycles. Examples of such systems include but are not limited to web transactional systems, management information systems, interactive multimedia systems, embedded systems, game software systems, mobile computing, decision support systems, cloud computing, robotics, quantum computing and security.

Applications are invited for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. A strong commitment to teaching and to applied engineering research is required with a preference for individuals with industrial experience in one or more areas of specialization or in a core software systems area. The successful candidate must have the ability and enthusiasm to teach undergraduate/graduate courses and to conduct research and development in one or more areas of specialization. The ability to work in a team environment within the Software Systems Engineering program is a valued characteristic of the successful candidate.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field, and should also have the appropriate credentials to be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Saskatchewan. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

To apply, please go to http://www.uregina.ca/hr/careers/opportunities.html and submit a cover letter, a current curriculum vitae, a statement of research interest, evidence of teaching effectiveness, writing samples or links to publications (optional), and photocopies of transcripts. Please be prepared to provide official transcripts and a list of three references with complete contact information. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.

The University of Regina is committed to an inclusive workplace that reflects the richness of the community that we serve. The University welcomes applications from all qualified individuals, including individuals within the University’s employment equity categories of women, persons with disabilities, members of visible minorities, Indigenous persons, individuals of diverse gender and sexual orientation and all groups protected by the Human Rights Code.
