The Ted Brown Memorial Chemistry Scholarship was established in honor of Emeritus Professor Ted Brown. During his 36 years at ASU, Ted Brown undertook research in transition metal chemistry, with particular focus on the early metals from Groups IV, V and VI. He was a visiting Professor at Imperial College, London in 1973 and at Purdue University in 1981. In addition to teaching both general chemistry and inorganic chemistry, he was also the Associate Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry from 1987 – 1997.

The Ted Brown Memorial Chemistry Scholarship is awarded annually to a first generation undergraduate student with documented financial need as defined by ASU Financial Aid and Scholarship Services. Preference will be given Native American students who have an affiliation with a federally-recognized or state-recognized tribe.
